In 1946, John Berner arrived back from World War II and applied his experience as a Navy diesel repairman to set up a trucking business. He eventually bought a tractor and trailer and started contracting with local coal firms. More than 70 years later, Berner Trucking is currently located in Dover, Ohio, managing roughly 100 tractors and 20 owner-operators. At Berner Trucking we are always looking for dedicated, top-quality drivers across our multiple lines of business. Our drivers spend most of their time east of the Mississippi River, but we are certainly willing to run nationally when our customers' needs require it.

First off, let’s give a shout-out to the backbone of any trucking company: the drivers, and especially to Brianna Santos
Been here 2 years 8 months and very happy. Plus 2000$ sign on bonus
Great trucking company. Excellent customer service. Dump, rolloff, dry van, and flatbed service available.
Went to there hog roast for hospice was a good time and good for
Drove broker from 92 to 98 then company truck in 99 then part time from 2000 to 2004 then quit and mechanicing. Some older drivers may remember "rookie" blue Pete for MB Tkng. Nothing bad to say about Berner

Great company to work for. Great owner as well as employees.
I work here27 years great place to work
A great company with solid pay and decent insurance. You can be home daily or out every week. Dispatch is excellent, the owner is supportive, and family values are emphasized.
It's a paycheck, but dispatch tends to favor certain drivers. The shop should focus on fixing issues when reported rather than waiting for breakdowns on the road.
The equipment is outdated, mostly consisting of 2013–2015 Freightliner Columbias with nearly 800,000 miles. While newer trucks are available, they are often given to drivers who don’t maintain them, which is frustrating for those who take good care of their trucks.
I leased onto Berner for several years starting in 1997. Since I was an owner-operator running my own truck, it wasn’t a traditional job, but there was always someone available to offer support or advice. Having access to a company shop for maintenance was a huge benefit. It was a great company with great people—I just wish they kept records from then to verify my employment.
I enjoy working for this company because how much I earn is up to me. Some drivers complain about pay, but they also don’t put in much effort. I make great money because I'm willing to work for it, and the benefits are fairly good.
The pay is low compared to the effort required each week. Cheap loads and percentage-based pay can be manipulated. While you’ll earn enough to cover bills, better-paying jobs are available in the area, especially in oil and gas. This job is more of a stepping stone than a long-term career.
They genuinely care about their employees and will help in any way possible. I experienced this firsthand. I would recommend this company to anyone. Most days, I was home, though I occasionally stayed in the truck overnight. Home on weekends.
Your earnings depend on how hard you work. If you consistently put in maximum effort, they will expect it all the time. Most work is local, with daily home time, though some routes require over-the-road driving
I enjoyed working here—they treated me well, and I’d recommend them to anyone. Retirement was my only reason for leaving. The pay and benefits are solid, and I was home every night. They were also flexible when needed.
A fantastic company with outstanding ownership and management. If they hadn’t downsized, I never would have left. It was a big loss for the Toledo area.
I love working here. Dispatch stays on top of things, management is excellent, and the mechanics don’t waste time when repairs are needed. The equipment is in good condition, and the pay is fair.
I worked here for three years. In my first year, I earned $38,000; in my second year, $42,500; and in my final year, $45,000. When I was hired, they told me the average salary for drivers was between $42,000 and $44,000 per year.
The job has changed due to contract adjustments over the past year. The owner understands the industry, but middle management and dispatchers don’t.
West Side is a well-organized and attractive company, but the dispatchers seem to operate on a completely different wavelength than the drivers.
The company has shifted away from a family-oriented approach. Now, employees feel like just a number. They aren’t transparent about pay details, especially regarding percentage-based compensation.
