Deep South Freight is a home‑weekly, low‑stress company with modest pay and heavy loads. If you’re looking into deep south freight jobs, just know they’re not the worst, but they’re far from the best. If home time matters more than money, DSF might work for you. But if you want higher income, better loads, and a more professional setup, there are stronger options out there.
Deep South Freight is a small Southern carrier where home time is the biggest selling point, but deep south freight pay and communication are the biggest complaints. Drivers’ experiences are all over the place. Some drivers love the people and the home time. Others say the pay and dispatch issues make it not worth it. If home time matters more than money, DSF might work for you.

Deep South Freight (DSF) is a well-established regional dry van carrier, founded in 1975, operating a small fleet of approximately 99 power units primarily across the Southeast and Midwest. The company distinguishes itself with a percentage pay model (25% of linehaul for company drivers, 70% for Owner-Operators), and a commitment to weekly home time in core service lanes. While driver reviews praise the family-like atmosphere and operational support, candidates should weigh the high rate of vehicle Out-of-Service (OOS) violations against the strong driver safety compliance and recently confirmed availability of traditional benefits.

This company really Needs to hire better drivers. I just got ran off of the road over here in Indiana on Highway 20. I see this again. I will bring up a lawsuit and I will have DOT all over this company. My family is DOT. I will have it done.
Deep South Freight has been in business for 50 years and has nothing to do with stealing cars and for that matter even hauling cars. I believe we have some reviews who have targeted the incorrect company. As we work to have these reviews removed, please feel free to reach out to us directly should you need clarification.
Saw truck 3208 and it was a woman driver who ran someone off the road right off the Emerson off ramp. I pulled up next to semi and told her to pay attention and she just laughed. She needs to have her Class A revoked.
Very bad driver should know how to drive before change line give signal and space for other coming behind triller # 23042 at 57 freeway Effingham IL
First of all 7 STARS is required. 5 DIAMOND service and communication. So far Deep South Freight has been 100% on payments and meeting delivery coverage needs. Also check out DSF Logistics LLC which is their brokerage. Fun bunch to work with and they are very quick to respond.
Best carrier and company I have ever worked with. I would recommend this company to all my friends and family
Great company. Great people and great communication. Love getting to work with them.

Planning is spot-on!
From fuel efficient rigs to top of the line navigation systems. Feels good to be with a company that invests in staying cutting-edge.
They hooked me up with training and certifications that really matter
It's great to see a company committed to helping drivers
It’s very hard to trying to reach people in the recruiting department at this company
Drivers act like they own the road. Extremely vulgar language on the CB radio. Middle finger WILL get broke off if it flyes at the wrong person
I wouldn't even give one star..truck number 9556..license plate number 2653047..was going down 431 in Glencoe kissing the license plate numbers of every car on the road..going a good 70mph in a 50mph zone..they make it on time..but at the same time putting lives in danger while they do it..I can't blame the whole company but I have a 3weeks old baby in my vehicle and his wreckless driving was not safe at all
Great company
Nice southern hospitality
Husband job
Can’t express my gratitude to this company for what they have done for going the extra mile and taking care of in my hardship if anyone need a job this is the place you need to work for
Spoke to Sam and he is EXTREMELY polite. Hopefully we get to work together again soon.
My husband worked for this company they don’t pay you well 200 dollars for loads not making no money running you way to Florida for small amounts of money please look some where else’s if you have a Facebook cause you will lose everything you got are almost dealing with them
This company is a joke... hauled a load for them... had to wait an hour to be loaded and because I delivered an hour late they deducted $125 off our pay on a $500 load. Will be reporting to the better business bureau and having all my drivers post negative reviews.

Great Place
Great people
Great company to drive for they really treat you like family!
This is a fantastic place to work. Been a driver for over 30 years and wished I had found it years ago.
Good luck hauling for these guys.... they are con artist just trying to screw you out of your pay.
Some aspects of travel were enjoyable, but the pay just wasn’t sufficient for the demands of the job. Everything is tightly scheduled, leading to both positive and negative experiences. Earning 28% of the gross load isn’t enough to keep up with today’s cost of living. It’s not really worth the hassle, but if you need a temporary job to bridge a gap, it’s an option. Just don’t expect to make big money.
The job itself is decent—I had no real issues. Home time was great, pay was reasonable, and the dispatchers knew drivers by name. It’s a small southern company, and I’d recommend it to others.
It’s a fair place to work, and I don’t have anything particularly negative to say. Personally, I was let go for what I believe was an unrelated reason to my actual job performance. Aside from that, it’s an average position.
Communication is severely lacking, even within the office. Instead of addressing concerns directly, everyone is left guessing. The company seems to be slipping into a culture of laziness.
What is the best part of working at the company? The new tractor trailers. That’s about it. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Poor dispatching, weak communication, and trailers needing inspections or constant repairs. The pay is pretty bad. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Practically nonexistent, with little to no moral standards. Assistance is hard to come by—even getting a call back is a challenge. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Slow, with gap dispatching that causes you to lose a day’s worth of work.
It’s a small company, and from the first day, people call you by name instead of treating you like just another number. The atmosphere is more family-oriented.
If you work hard, job security isn’t an issue. I never had complaints about the company, though I was laid off when business slowed. The shop is excellent, with skilled workers handling repairs efficiently. However, dispatch and driver management could use improvements—covering their own mistakes with lies is common, and I’ve seen drivers fired over false claims. Overall, it’s not the worst company out there—definitely better than many.
