Good company to start out and gain driving experience. My dispatcher Tina is awesome, I enjoy my routes, and I love my truck. Recruiter Andrea is amazing as well. She really goes above and beyond to help the drivers out. She genuinely cares for the drivers. I do struggle with some of the trailers due to them being older but it’s a work in progress. As far as pay I wish it was hourly for all local and short haul drivers not just a select few. Overall can’t complain.
I was a a student at Shelly Truck Driving school. Operated by S&H the instructors are varying knowledgeable, and will get you where you need to be to pass a CDL class a license

There is no perfect employer, but I found my home here.
I have been in Transportation for 40 years and S&H Express is by far the best Trucking company I have ever worked for in all my years in this industry. Always treated like a person and not a number. Excellent team work atmosphere !!!
Many companies boast about their "family" atmosphere. After five years at S&H Express, I can honestly say that we have a family atmosphere to boast about. If you are friendly and care about other people, join our team!
I am going on 3 years with the company and I have to say this is the best company I've ever worked for. I was hired with no experience in trucking as a Safety Coordinator. I was given the tools and forever grateful for Bridget (Safety Manager) helping me start with the company. Jeff (President) is caring, knowledgeable and always takes the time to talk with the drivers and office staff. I was recently moved to recruiting so advancement is an option here! There is a great management team here like Jordan, Joe and Dale. They truly care about the drivers and office staff. I feel at home here and if you decide to join S&H Express, you wont be disappointed!
Excellent company! Making our drivers happy is a priority here. All I have to say is Family, Family, Family! Its refreshing to know there is still a company out there that truly believes in their drivers and staff.
In summary, they are a very good company to work for. They are family-focused, have a solid history, and offer decent pay, though it's not the highest but certainly not the lowest.
Consistent work available throughout the year... Family-focused company. Adaptable work hours based on both company and personal needs.. They truly treat you like family... Consistent work available throughout the year.. Typically 10 to 14 hours per day. Competitive pay and benefits... The owners are wonderful people who respect their employees... Management collaborates with employees; as long as you do your job, they leave you alone...
You earn the respect of the drivers; it feels like being part of a large family where the owner and executive vice president know you personally. It's an excellent place to work.
What is the best part of working at the company? Overall... Shellenberger companies is a great employer! They provide decent wages, assigned equipment, and predictable home time. Do your job... You'll never have to worry about management! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Many of their trailers are questionable! Sometimes you worry about inspections! Also, it's stressful when your assigned truck breaks down! Often... The spare trucks are in poor condition! Point? Take care of your assigned truck! What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Hands Off! Assignments are given electronically... You seldom have to interact with management... Unless you mess up! What is a typical day like for you at the company? Early morning starts! Live load/unload. Extra pay for driver unloading (it requires a lot of energy) back hauls are expected! 95% never touch freight!
Worked here for 2 years. Owners and upper management know the names of the employees. Multiple Employee Appreciation events during work hours throughout the year. Company is growing rapidly. Excellence is noticed, appreciated and awarded. Dispatchers know where I prefer not to go.
The company does not value their employees. To them, we are just a number. They overwork us constantly, and lately, they have done nothing but lie to their employees.
Very poor management; this place is terrible. The only positive aspect is their excellent truck driving school, which I highly recommend. Their school is awesome.
Very good place to work. The Fleet manager makes a big effort when the driver is completely new. They have excellent maintenance on all tractors; no complaints about that.
They do treat people with respect, like any other company they are not perfect. They do not treat you like a number. People for the most part are friendly.
Disorganized. Dispatch is miserable. Low pay. Low salary. False promises. Sit way too long after being unloaded when you reach your destination. My wife is now working 2 jobs because my pay is terrible. Long hours. No family time.
They treat drivers very well and with respect. But I feel that they don't pay enough for the drivers' experience. Compared to other companies, they don't pay the drivers what they deserve.
Well, what can I say? They gave me a way to get benefits. Yes, you have to pay for them, But there is no overtime. The person who handles the work is cool, But some people try to get you in trouble.
Good company to work for. Been in business long enough to be very established in the business. My dispatcher keeps me moving every day. I like getting my work assignments the night before so I can plan my day.
Good job if you enjoy working many hours and being away from your family. But that's trucking. Weekend hours available too. They do give you the option to decide about when you would like to start and which runs you would like to take.
