We cherish and pride ourselves on holding some of the best CSA scores in the Western United States. Great CSA scores signify fewer examinations and more trips for our drivers. Also, we recognise that there is a problematic balance between miles and home time. When our drivers express to us that they wish to be home for things like birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations, we do everything we can to make it happen.

Western Transport Inc. began its life in 1963 to transport building materials for our former parent company. In 1985 we became an independent for-hire carrier under its current management. Since that time we have expanded from 2 trucks to our current size of over 60 power units and 85 refer and dry vans. We know that our midsize capacities enable us to properly serve our customers’ continued demand, while still retaining a very individual partnership with all who participate. Transporting goods safely and acting in an honest voice are our direct mission.

Never seen a company take CSA scores as seriously as they do
I'd love to see more companies follow their lead
I've been in the logistics industry for over 20 years, and I can confidently say that Western Transport's approach to safety and efficiency is one of the most impressive
Appreciate that they take the time to explain any issues that come up and keep me informed every step of the way
I'll continue to use them
An excellent company! They truly make you feel like family, and I’m grateful that my husband is driving for them.
I’ve been driving for Western for about six months now, and I have no plans to leave.
After reading the reviews, I can only echo what Alan Ginkel once told me. During a family emergency, he went far beyond what a co-owner is expected to do. When I thanked him, he simply said, “I treat you the way you treat me.” That’s the philosophy here. Alan has since retired, but Travis Stibal and the ownership team continue to uphold the same values. If you’re honest, take responsibility, work hard, and treat them with respect, they will do the same for you. I’ve been here for over ten years and have never felt the need to look elsewhere. Recruiters from other companies have approached me, but I’ve turned them down because I know they can’t offer what Western does. It’s not just about having the best pay package in the area—they are simply the best company.
My boyfriend Mark started driving for Western in the spring of 2018, and he hasn’t had a single complaint. When I was hospitalized in the ICU due to a serious health issue, Rachel and the Western team went above and beyond to ensure Mark could be there for me before sending him back out. Their care for drivers and their families is truly remarkable.
The hardworking crew at Western goes the extra mile to get the job done—both dispatchers and drivers alike. Their shop team is outstanding, keeping the trucks in top condition.
The best company
Don in recruiting is awesome.. easy going and very helpful in my CDL training.
Great customer service and a good price. They went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of! The level of customer service was incredible. Very appreciated! It made our community event better by not needing to worry about storage or shipping. Thank you Western! Your driver was great!
Great staff! Great drivers! :-) I’m sure there are some folks that have had a bad experience here and there - but that happens with all companies. The people I have met here have been very respectful, and genuinely care for the employees and community.
I had an interaction with one of their drivers this evening. He thought it was okay to park next to me and block me in. I was next to the curb with 2 trucks in front of me and one behind so we could all get out. I told him that I couldn't get out and his answer was just wake him up when I wanted to leave. Parking at the truck stop was only half full. Do your drivers know how to backup? I got him to move long enough to get out and he took the spot I was in. I have an injured knee and it is hard for me to walk. That is why I parked where I did. I moved to a different parking spot so that he could have his way. I don't feel it is right that I should have to get out of my truck and knock on someone's door when I want to leave a parking spot. I also talked to his dispatch Don Best. Same attitude as the driver.
Our daughter works for Western Transport Inc
I’m leaving this review so low because after talking to a employee who currently is working for you but strongly looking to go elsewhere tells me how crooked of a company this is and upper management is not professional and very greedy!!!
I work here and never ever had any issues with home time.on a side note, you have to take responsibility for your actions out on the road. I have been here for just over a year and learned a lot in that time. I god my cdl through them and got a nice reimbursement after one year.
I work here so my opinion has a slight bias but this is an amazing company to work for the shop is second to none and the people make me come back for more no matter how rough my week was. I have finally found somewhere I fit in and belong. Oh the places you will see :-)
I’m leaving this review because of one of their truck drivers who recklessly drove into our lane while on highway 80. A semi truck, that was driving in front of your company vehicle, was in the right lane and had to pull over onto the shoulder. We were already trapped behind another semi truck in the left lane, when your driver came into our lane instead of slowing down safely for the truck that was pulling over. It forced us to have to slam on our breaks to avoid your company’s reckless driving. I had my infant son is the car. His life is more important than your driver’s ego, who thought it was professional enough to flip us off as we drove by as if it was our fault. License plate I believe to be AK2286. Great representation of the company. Edit: It’s interesting how there was an increase of five-star ratings in the days right after receiving two 1-star ratings for bad driving, but no response from the actual company. I would imagine that this was intentional fluff to divert people into thinking that their terrible drivers are the exception and not the rule. I love how the possible death of my infant son caused by a reckless semi-truck driver going 70+ MPH is downplayed as a “bad experience”.
Great place to work people and staff are pretty chill and cool
Don't work for this company, their drivers like to force other truck drivers on the shoulder,my govern speed is 68mph and his was 69mph in left lane about 20 cats behind him impeding traffic, I will be calling their safety department on this issue
Great people to work for. They treat you fairly and pay pretty well
Don in recruiting is awesome.. easy going and very helpful in my CDL training.
Great place to work. Gotta love it
Hubby works for Western and they treat him well.
Awesome company to work for.
Great place to work
Amazing caring company
No home time
Great company to work for. Excellent home time, and the best pay per mile in the area why work for less when you can work for the best trucking company in all southeast Idaho.
They will lie to your face about home time just to hire you, and then keep half your check when you quit respectfully. Terrible company, full of two-faced little demons.
I love running flatbed for them. The dispatchers are honest and experienced drivers themselves. The equipment is new, they have a pet policy, and they always get me home when I ask. They trust you to do your job without micromanaging.
Great people to work for. They always ensured I got home when needed and kept me busy when it was time to work. Any equipment issues were promptly addressed, and they made sure drivers were comfortable in their trucks.
Reliable equipment and solid management. Pay is based on max gross loads, with a lot of secondary highway driving. Canada loads offer the best pay. The carrier relies heavily on one shipper, so mill breakdowns can cause occasional delays. DEF maintenance can also be problematic.
