The pay is among the best in the industry, support systems are in place, and the company maintains a structured, respectful atmosphere. When you look at z transportation pay weekly, it’s clear that their compensation model consistently outperforms competitors. With standout earnings across all major divisions—especially for OTR teams and L2P drivers—Z Transportation offers financial advantages that Xpress Cargo simply can’t match.
Across the Z Transportation driver reviews, a clear pattern emerges: while a small number of drivers praise the company for good equipment, decent miles, and supportive dispatchers, the overwhelming majority report serious and recurring problems. Most z transportation complaints focus on inconsistent or misleading pay, long wait times for loads, poor communication, disorganized management, and broken promises regarding home time and compensation. Many drivers describe the company as unprofessional, unreliable, and difficult to work with. The positive experiences appear to be exceptions rather than the norm, and the negative themes repeat consistently over multiple years, suggesting systemic issues rather than isolated incidents.

Z Transportation is a place to be when you need a caring trucking company.
Great experience working with z transportation
Smiles and frowns a roller coaster. I took them for a ride kind of bumpy .They didn't like the ride, but they have new trucks and good equipment. Recommend this place for a fresh start. I got to buy my own truck .
I have been working with this company for some time and they have been providing great service even on some of our most critical accounts. The dispatcher Travis is absolutely mint and a reliable person. This is a carrier you can go to for options. Will continue to give them freight!
Z Transport yall Rock. Z Transport is located in New Jersey. Yes many people are like noooo way im not driving the North East. No this company goes where the freight goes and that's a fact. Yes we go west coast Yes we go down South all over the place. The staff at this company is second to nobody. True 24 hour dispatch. If you have a issue just ask for help they will figure out what the best move will be for the freight and for you. Miles lol yes miles you make what you put in. If you show that you can be trusted and will deliver orders on time you will get all the miles you can handle. Home time we'll just tell them when you whant or need to be home it will happen no questions asked. Equipment is top notch. If there is a issue no worries go to a repair facility nearest to you get it fixed if close to new Jersey come in and our hard working maintenance crew will take care of it. Do not judge this company by its cover. No we don't have a fancy or hugh terminal. Yes we are 99% live load and unload but no worries you get paid if it takes any time I have experienced it. Instead of spending stupid money on big fancy terminal this company rather use the money on equipment and there employees. So if you whant a Terminal with all the bells and whistle go to Swift and sit. Not us we drive and make money. TO END this I just wanna say give Z a shott best move you can make. to my DM Lucas your the man I tip my cap to you. Good bless Sascha Schwarz Truck 1224.
2011-2021 It's been 10 years with them, and we still going strong. Keep on trucking and be safe everyone.
I've been here for about two and a half years. Good equipment, great pay and very polite people in the office. I can be home every weekend if I want to but I can stay out and work if needed. They've been real good to me. Two big thumbs up 👍👍.
One of your drivers decided to get right on my bumper and tried to intimidate me into going faster than the speed limit. I did get a picture of the side of this driver’s truck and I want something done about it. I have as much right as anyone to drive on the road at the posted speed limit without someone trying to intimidate in a dangerous manner. I am awaiting a call back to discuss this as I have called and left a message. This incident happened in Asheville NC on I-26E at approximately 10:20 am next to the Asheville airport as that was the exit that I was getting off on which enabled me to get this picture that I posted. Truckers always complain about other drivers being disrespectful on the road, but never talk about how they treat other drivers on the road and this is a clear example of that problem across the board! Your driver had plenty of space to get around me and instead decided to get just inches from my rear bumper and weaved back and forth in an antagonizing manner. This was all because I was traveling at the posted 55 mph speed limit, in the right lane I might add, that apparently wasn’t good enough for someone traveling with such a big vehicle that could have easily hit me and cost me my life in the event that I needed to hit my brakes. Your drivers need to learn what a safe following distance is. DOT rules state: “A safe following distance for an 18-wheeler, based on DOT rules, is one second for every 10 feet of vehicle length when driving below 40 mph. For speeds over 40 mph, add an additional second. This translates to a 4-second following distance for a typical tractor-trailer at 40 mph or less, and 5 seconds when exceeding 40 mph.” Your driver was most certainly not complying with this rule in any way, shape or form. Had your driver been at a following distance of at least 5 seconds behind me, I wouldn’t be writing this review but here we are.
I wanted to wait 4 months in to give a comment. Awesome company!! It has it's ups and downs like any other company but this company is awesome and fair to everyone. Couldn't ask for a better dispatcher than Sasha Davis. She has been giving me good miles and she's been honest with me. They really believe in compensating you for any trouble you may face when dealing with a load. If you're willing to be out on the road, long for OTR, then they'll give you good miles. I highly recommend this company.
Love this company been here seven year😁
Flexible schedules, helping you maintain harmony
One thing that sets 'em apart is their commitment to home time, brothers
I've never felt safer on the road than I do with them
I've had my fair share of companies, but Z Transportation is the only one that feels like family.
Miles are always there
Been working with these guys as a broker for over a year now, phenomal company. All drivers ive spoken with are very professional, well spoken and represent this company well. All around great service and someone you can trust your freight with. A+ service - also drivers i have spoken with mention they enjoy working for Z over other bigger carriers - if your considering moving freight with Z you will be happy you did
Great Company to work for , they are very fair to their drivers and you are known by your name not a truck number , very respectful towards their drivers , in this economy right now if your willing to run the miles you will get them , if you run into a problem on the road they are very quick to resolve it , Great people to work for !!
Great place to work, equipment is maintained regularly thus makes being on the road a breeze. Office staff care about the employees and respond quickly when any issues arise. Did I mention the pay is great too.
Z transportation is not just a trucking company. It's a place to call home. Everyone here treats you with respect and as if you were family. The home time is amazing and they constantly try to improve the company especially for the driver. This is my home. I have never worked for a company that was this caring and amazing. The miles and pay are great. As with any company we have our slow weeks and our busy weeks but it averages out well. Dispatch is continuously working on ways to keep you moving and does a fantastic job getting you home when you need it. If you cut me I will bleed Z transportation. They are my family. This truly is a great place to work. I hope I retire here. Can't say enough good things about working here. It is well deserved. Thanks for letting me continue to be a part of it.
I currently work here and I'm a brutally honest person. I try to be anyway. Let me start by saying no company is perfect. I've been driving over 8 years and I've been around a little bit. There are always pluses and minuses with each company. Depending on one's preferences. Here I would say the pluses outweigh the minuses. There are plenty of miles to be made for those that live to drive. Only mandatory 2 weeks out before going home. Plus they have no issue allowing you to take extended home time if needed. Safety is responsive and accounting is very helpful. Advances are available whenever needed. Planning could use some improvement especially when it's time to go home, especially if you love in the south. This is the only company I know that only plans mon-fri 8am to 4pm. If you're not booked before Fri at 4pm you're done until Mon at 8am when they'll then start looking for a load. When you need to go home for any specific reason you need to tell them your desired day is 2 days prior to the actual day or you may risk being late. The other issue I have is that me personally don't like driving the northeast. Anywhere above Virginia but no matter how much I voice this that's where they keep me. That's all they know. If you don't like the northeast this is not the company for you. For this reason alone I think I may be gone before the snow and ice returns. That aside, for people that just don't care, just want to run and get miles, they'd be perfect. Trucks are governed at 68. And one last thing, when it comes to maintenance, the company doesn't like to spend money outside. Unless it's a dire situation you're going to have to get a load somewhere near their only shop in New Jersey. Going anywhere outside is almost a cardinal sin. They're very tight on what they spend outside the company.
It's been over 18 monts, since i joined Z transportation and so far everything is beyond my expectations. From dispatch and management, through safety and maintenance,it feels like a family. Pay is exceptional and miles are good too. Home time is plenty and they make everything possible to get you home when you need it! Bottom line,i am planing to retire with them!
I've only given 3 stars because I'm not hired yet. Talked to a recruiter this evening. He said he'll get back with me tomorrow. Really hope he does and this isn't one of the companies that say that then ghost you. Everything sounds amazing and the reviews reflect that. Really looking forward to working with Z.
Good company to work for I've been here almost a year now and trust I have no issues. The dispatching team always do a amazing job
All i can say is this is a good company they welcome you with open arms and they treat you very well here and yes i will give the a 5 star the dri er mangers here r very nice saftey they r very concern about their drivers so if any body looking for a good company this is the company to come to
I’m currently Employed at Z Transportation ,for about 2yrs now.. I have 33yrs of OTR Experience..This is an Excellent Company to Work for. They have always worked with me with any reasonable request . I run Regional home weekly , but sometimes I will stay if I need the extra miles. You can run how You like & they will try to make You Happy.. Home Weekly or 2-4 weeks out ,however You choose.. The Office Personals are Professional & Courtesy. They do their very best in keeping drivers Running & Happy ..They Have Excellent Equipment & schedule maintenance, to keep Trucks in Excellent Condition. Give Them a Call & Talk with Recruiting..
Been here about 6 months. Every company has their flaws. Things could always be better, but overall, Z Transportation good to work for. I can't complain. Pay is good. Great miles some weeks and good miles other weeks. No issues with dispatch, they allow me to run when I want and don't force me to run at night or during adverse weather conditions. I would recommend Z to other drivers
I never work for the co I'm actually in process try come aboard but after reading lot of the reviews I would like speak freely on few things an have few ?s ?-1 is co owned by Russians? If so, Russians are not bad people they kind of interesting they funny make me laugh I work for Russians in past an lot folks misread them they are the nicest most open minded peeps out here they more like the Chinese they all about honor an respect u just got pay real close attention an open Ur ear an mind not Ur mouth to understand em. But make this short an simple to the negative review commuters talk bout brokers shippers customers pay roll etc.. In order to understand the procedures to work for co suck as z transport I think u should have at least 3-4 yr otr haul different freight do co an owner opt but I'm look forward to come board with i rather work for a Russian co than any other I worked for
They deny the app and I don’t even know why the record is clean, the recruiter is asked several times and doesn’t provide information. Abandonment of equipment it is seen that the answer you sent is generic they do not have to say anything if for me it gave zero stars and they must have trained employees in the recruitment area. Because what you’re offering is the same as the market, nothing superior
I am curious as to why I was denied? Did I do something wrong? I apologize for writing this on the company review, but I honestly never got any resolve for this matter. I applied for the position a while back.
You will go bankruptcy with this company and they 3 days work week then you sitting Thursday to Monday somewhere in the middle of nowhere, don't do it look for someone else to work for ..
I've been with the Z Transport family for over two years and have nothing but positive things to say about them. I've only had two dispatchers over this period, and both have been incredibly dedicated to finding the greatest loads and routes that meet my schedule and personal needs (all while making me great money too). The safety team is always in touch to warn about dangerous road/weather conditions, which makes me feel not just safe but also like someone genuinely cares about their drivers. All of this is topped off with the owner, who will never hesitate to call out if any concerns develop. Who could ask for anything more? Fantastic firm, fantastic owner, fantastic money, simply fantastic! It comes highly recommended.
The worst company I have ever seen in trucking. What they are advertising on social media and when you talk to their recruiters, what they are telling; are way different. The recruiters are rude and unprofessional. They don’t even give you a precise answer if you ask them. I would not recommend a professional truckers or anyone who is serious in this industry.
I'm taking my comment out because you didn't like it still doesn't mean that I'm wrong. You need to learn how to accept people's opinion about How they felt about the application criticism it helps us to grow. I am not selfish I am saying the very truth and you know it
Hi guys, I’m looking for advice here. I live in Boston Massachusetts. I’m looking for a decent company to work for I see you guys have that option for drivers to be home more I have 3 OTR years of experience I’m looking for something close to home the company I’m working for right now Money is good but the homeTime is sucks I got $.72 a mile. They keep me really busy. I push everything doubles triples tank dry van and reefer , I’m not scared of pushing miles. If you guys are the company that can keep me busy and have a great home time. Please help me out.
This rating well probably be deleted shortly after posting! I worked for Z Trans for about 90 days and I've got to tell you that they look promising with top pay benefits and the such. My experience with this company was, to say the least, very disappointing! Most of my time was setting waiting on another load. I'm talking about setting for 23.5 hrs, 24 hrs and longer. And the kicker for you is when you've had enough and return the truck, get a rental car you will not be reimbursed for your expenses. Don't do it!
Z transportation are amazing people and they stand behind there drivers 100 percent. making the transition to them was a excellent experience. Mike Neal was the worker responsible for me and he was great could not ask for better, he was there for anything I needed literally food hotels money to get started on the road great employe. They put me in a brand new Peterbilt 579 and brand new trailer I love this company. Miles are good they will keep you running if u can keep up. If your looking for a company that goes above and beyond for there drivers plus great pay look no further here they are. If u have any questions reach out to me I'm a driver with 10 years experience and this is the best company I have ever worked for.
Great company so far. Keeping me moving. Was assigned a new 2022 Peterbilt 579 on first day of employment (Tuesday 4/26/2022). Bella in recruiting was very professional and made my application process, drug testing screening, travel to orientation stress free. Keep up the great work Bella and shout out to the rest of Z Transportation Team...
The company expects constant availability, but their accounting department has major issues. I was consistently underpaid each week, and the equipment is poorly maintained.
Finding a properly working piece of equipment is nearly impossible. The accounting team demands immediate action, causing frustration. They call constantly and will shortchange you on your paycheck—avoid working here.
Dispatch does a good job, but if they decide to get rid of you, they won’t hesitate. The trucks are relatively new. They operate with stealth, so stay alert and protect yourself. The shop...
What is the best part of working at the company? The people are friendly, but the pay isn’t worth it. What is the most stressful aspect of working here? Endless waiting with no compensation. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? The atmosphere itself isn’t demanding, but they will find ways to make it stressful. What is a typical day like at the company? Waiting indefinitely due to a lack of loads.
Joining this company will be a regret. The equipment may appear decent, but it’s misleading—especially concerning DOT compliance.
You'll be driving trucks that are either brand new or under two years old. Dispatch operates professionally, and the office staff is responsive, providing support for any issues on the road.
